normakte / Digital nameplate
From 20 January 2027, the Machinery Regulation allows instructions for use to be provided in digital form. How to access them is indicated on the machine – in practice, a QR code on the nameplate. normakte provides the landing page behind the code, for up to ten machine types.
This is what a landing page looks like – an example with a fictitious machine.
| Condition | Basis | With normakte |
|---|---|---|
| The machine indicates how to access the instructions | Art. 10(7)(a) | QR code for printing |
| Instructions can be printed, downloaded and saved | Art. 10(7)(b) | documents as PDF on the landing page |
| Accessible online for the lifetime, at least ten years | Art. 10(7)(c) | while the plan is active; for the ten years: code pointing to your own domain, export at any time |
| On request at purchase, free of charge on paper within one month | Art. 10(7) | remains the manufacturer’s task; the PDF version serves as the print template |
The duty to keep instructions online for ten years lies with the manufacturer and does not pass to a service provider. That is why we recommend pointing the QR code to your own domain and redirecting internally: the printed code stays valid even if you change provider. The recommended set-up.
For machinery intended for non-professional users, the essential safety information must still be supplied on paper.
€19 per month, 20% less with annual payment, cancellable monthly, plus any applicable VAT. With the trial file you can see every function free of charge; the landing page is published with the plan.
The plan covers making documents available, not conformity itself. For the register of requirements with article and evidence, the synergy evidence with the CRA or the declaration generated from the file, switch to the File plan (from €49 per month). Your documents are kept.
No. The Machinery Regulation allows digital form; it does not require it. If you keep supplying paper, you do not need a QR code; the manufacturer’s digital contact must still appear on the machine (Art. 10(6)).
The landing page at normakte goes offline. If the printed code points to your own domain, you simply redirect it to a new target – the code on the nameplate stays valid. The complete export can be downloaded at any time.
Yes. Instead of enclosing the EU declaration of conformity, the manufacturer may state in the instructions the internet address or a machine-readable code giving access to it – likewise for the lifetime, at least ten years (Art. 10(8)).
